The Senior Manager: Marketing and Communications will report directly to the MD for Mobile with a dotted reporting line to the MD for TV. This post, for the first two years will be based in Durban, South Africa but regular travel to the Johannesburg Head Office will be required.

The incumbent will be responsible for devising, implementing and managing the marketing, (brand) and communications strategy for the South African business units with a core 16 – 35 audience demographic focus across telecoms and media sectors, ensuring that the marketing and sales business objectives for the group are met and exceeded.


  • Crafting, implementation and managing the execution of a centralised group strategy across the different business units
  • Creating and implementing a marketing led strategy (with a focus on digital and below the line activities) that will position and grow the corporate (mother) brand and the various sub-brands as SA’s leading urban youth Telecoms and Media brand and service provider
  • Structuring the marketing area and creating an optimised team in order to effectively support the business value chain
  • Overseeing all internal and external communication, including marketing, digital marketing & PR and online reputation
  • Driving segmentation and customer value management campaigns
  • Creating strategic partnership go-to-market plans
  • Advising the EXCO team on all forms of communication (marketing, digital, PR / internal and external)
  • Build an enhanced, healthy and positive perception of the brand with clients and consumers
  • Implement and oversee the groups CSI strategy

Candidate Requirements


  • At least 5 years of experience in marketing, media or advertising, including digital marketing (experience in the mobile and/or in retail-intensive B2C industries would be beneficial), preferably with a significant service and technology dimension (e.g., financial services, consumer electronics)
  • At least 2-3 years of leadership experience in similar positions, in fast-moving technology intensive industries
  • Project management experience combined with working knowledge of campaign development process
  • Telcomm/ICT industry exposure beneficial


Communications or Marketing Degree or Equivalent

A postgraduate qualification beneficial
