Bassline Live kicks off 2024 with Superstar Ami Faku live at Gold Reef Lyric Theatre

Bassline Live is thrilled to kick off the musical journey of 2024 on Saturday, March 2nd. This year marks a special celebration as we commemorate 30 years of ‘In Music We Trust’ in conjunction with our democracy. Joining us in this empowered three-way partnership is one of the most significant voices to emerge from our beautiful country in the last decade. We proudly present the multi-award-winning and nominated singer, serial hitmaker, and songwriter from the Eastern Cape, the rare musical gem & Vth Season recording artist Ami Faku. 

Joining her for this exclusive one-night event are two phenomenal voices, both known for possessing immense talent and rapidly rising as stars. This special night is powered by Vth Season Shows Division, who are renowned for their impressive roster of Africa’s most prominent music talent. Vth Season are best known for transforming unknown raw music talent into celebrated household names in Africa, and Ami Faku is a shining example of their success! The supporting acts for the evening include Nhlonipho, a versatile music producer, singer, and pianist hailing from eSwatini, alongside Kekelingo who is an exceptional singer-songwriter and accomplished drummer. Kekelingo is currently making significant strides as a solo artist, having left his mark as the drummer and “backing singer” of the Soweto-based band, The Muffinz. 

“This one night only concert is in the beautiful Lyric Theatre, at Gold Reef City, Jozi, also made possible by a partnership with Gold Reef City’s The Lyric Theatre, which has recently had a sound upgrade of note (pardon the pun) and hence the sound quality is such that ensures that these three extraordinary voices will be heard in their truest amplified way” says Bassline’s Founder Brad Holmes

ABOUT AMI FAKU:

Born and raised in the Eastern Cape in a township called Izinyoka, Ami Faku realised she could sing

from a young age when she was obliged to sing at church. Her passion for music was fuelled by a supportive family who kept her going even through 2 rejections at the pre-auditions of Idols SA. In 2016 Ami Faku decided to give the hopes of a music career one last shot when she auditioned for The Voice SA where she successfully made it through the auditions and weekly elimination rounds until she reached the Top 16 spot in 2017.Ami Faku’s participation in The Voice SA opened a lot of doors for her which led to finding a mentor and working with some of the top producers in SA. Through her networking, Ami Faku met renowned producer, 37MPH, who introduced her to Raphael Benza of Vth Season which led to her being featured on Eternal Africa’s Maradona (SA cover) single, and later being signed to the Vth Season in 2018. Under the Vth Season, Ami Faku released her first single, Ndikhethe Wena which catapulted her career. With a voice that commands the attention of any room she sings in, Ami Faku is a rare musical gem that will undoubtedly be one of the most important voices to come out of South Africa in the twentytens. “I want to create music that is uplifting and that everyone can relate to” – Ami Faku Gifted with the ability to work with various musical genres, Ami Faku finds her solace in the Modern Afro Pop genre.
