Marketing Manager: Digital & Social Wanted!

TRACE offers the most engaging, innovative, disruptive, edgy, chic and narrative-driven brand and digital content related to afro-urban entertainment. passionate marketer, you will be responsible for leveraging all digital channels to enhance and expand the brands’ relationship with its consumers. You will be a key part of the marketing team acting as a strategic thinker, collaborator, executer and project manager. You will be reporting directly to Chief Marketing Officer for TRACE mobile with a dotted reporting line to the Managing Director for TV. This post is based in Johannesburg, Rosebank.

You will be primarily focused on developing, executing and evaluating digital marketing programs for an audience demographic of 16 – 35 across telecoms and media sectors:

  • – Strategy
  • – Operational Planning
  • – Reporting
  • – Budget Management
  • – Platform Management

As a member of the management team, this role is expected to:

  • – Represent the leadership team in relevant forums, meetings, workshops etc.
  • – Live the Corporate Brands ethos and team charter to change and influence employees behaviour
  • – Build professionalism, loyalty and commitment to the team and organization
  • – Communicate actively and effectively resolve any potential conflicts that may arise
  • – Build internal stakeholder’s understanding and appreciation of the value of the digital ecosystem
  • – Develop, maintain, and manage a collaborative working relationship with strategic partners, sales and other business units
  • Adapt leadership style to different situations to improve performance
  • Manage boundaries that separate divisions to optimise workflow
  • Manage finances and processes


A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification (Marketing/ Media/ Digital)

A postgraduate qualification beneficial


  • – At least 5 years of marketing experience in relevant fields (brand, agency, marketing technology, experience in the mobile and/or in retail-intensive B2C industries would be beneficial), preferably with a significant service and technology dimension (e.g., financial services, consumer electronics)
  • – At least 2-3 years of leadership experience in similar positions, in fast-moving technology-intensive industries, collaborating with cross-discipline teams and agency partners
  • – Ability to flex between analytical and creative thinking
  • – Experience with marketing and digital technology platforms and including an understanding of the digital advertising value chain
  • – Strong working knowledge of social media platforms
  • – Expertise in digital media planning from targeting to measurement
  • – Project management experience combined with working knowledge of campaign development process, strong, decisive and motivated
  • – Telecoms/ICT /Media industry exposure beneficial
