RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assisting in conceptualising, planning and executing the events and activations for the Southern African business units (South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia..) with a core 16 – 35 audience demographic, ensuring that the marketing and sales business objectives for the group are met and exceeded
- Ensuring that the events and activations strategy and plan is aligned with the broader marketing and communication strategy across the business units
- Working with the Marketing team to make sure that the brand culture and personality is accurately represented at all events and activations
- Supporting the marketing and communications team as well as the business development and activations team by coordinating and executing all events and activations
- Measuring and tracking the budget, attendance, performance, ROI of all events and activations undertaken
- Coordinating with the social media and brand team members to ensure a 360-degree marketing approach to all events
- Maintain a required call frequency on assigned key venues (clubs etc.) to include developing and planning promotional activations, booking and installing point of sale materials, onboarding brand ambassadors and promoters etc.
- Overseeing and developing event and activation staff/ ambassadors/ promoters – build rapport through interactions and develop a team for best breed promotional representation
- Perform administrative duties as required such as tracking reports, promotional item stock keeping and replenishments, expense and budget reports etc.
EDUCATION
- A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification in Communications or Marketing e.g. IMM or Marketing/Communications degree will be beneficial
- Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook
EXPERIENCE
- At least 4 -5 years of experience in coordinating events and activations is essential including references
- Proven experiences with activations, exhibitions, product launches, road shows, corporate events etc.
- Project management experience combined with working knowledge of event and activation development process
KNOWLEDGE
- Strong operational knowledge and experience of events and activations from A – Z
- Event and activation agency processes and dynamics and knowledge of same to implement internally
- Knowledge of local and international event and activation trends
- Knowledge of GSM industry and, cellular telecommunications best practises
- Knowledge of sales and service environment
- General business acumen
SKILLS
- Strong administration and project management skills – excellent organisation, attention to detail and follow through skills
- Strong communication (verbal and written), negotiation, influencing and relationship building skills
- Excellent attention to detail and multitasking skills are essential
- Excellent time management skills and pressured delivery of deadlines and key milestones
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong “can-do“ attitude combined with an ability to use minimum resources to get maximum outputs
- Scanning, analytical and planning skills – to search for new ideas, trends and insights

GENERAL
- Well groomed and well spoken
- Must have a car and valid drivers license
- Must be willing to work events and activations on weekends and when needed
- Flexibility to travel (local / international)

- Constant pressure to meet extremely tight deadlines
