“Creativity doesn’t wait for that perfect moment. It fashions its perfect moments out of ordinary ones.” – Bruce Garrabrandt

As we continue to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and deal with the movie that has become our real lives, creatives have come to our aid to keep us calm, like they have done so many times before when humanity has been faced with uncertainty. They do this even as their very industry has been crippled by the pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a brutal effect on the creative industries in South Africa. Concerts have been cancelled, festivals postponed, art exhibitions have ceased, cinemas shut down, clubs and bars have been closed and the way people socialise has had to change.

But it’s not all doom-and-gloom. We look at some of the beautiful innovations to come out of the creative industry as a response to this global crisis. With this event we want to express that although the future is different, it is very bright.

The French Embassy in South Africa in collaboration with Trace  and the Nelson Mandela’s Children’s Fund invite you to stream a LIVE online event for the French National Day. The event will consist of a debate on the future of the creative industry post COVID, performances by Tresor, Rouge & Rajey and a short documentary looking at some of the innovations that have already come out of the industry in response to the pandemic. The online event will take place on French National Day on Tuesday, 14 July 2020 at 6pm on Facebook.

You can watch the live stream of the French National Day event on any of these platforms:
