Zoё Modiga’s first gathering of 2022, ABANTU, which loosely translates to people, is premised on an astute commemoration to human rights and honouring the fallen heroes and heroines of the Sharpeville massacre, which fatefully took place on the 21st of March 1960. The show serves as a housing of revolutionaries who, through song, echo the documented and unspoken stories of our past and present and future, consoling loss, celebrating triumph and aspiring for a conscious shift towards the next phase of societal evolution.
