Wyclef Jean

Musician, singer and producer Wyclef Jean has issued an urgent plea for donations in helping his native country, Haiti from the disastrous earthquake that occurred on Tuesday, January 12.

“The magnitude 7.0 earthquake and several aftershocks struck 10 miles from Port-au-Prince. I cannot stress enough what a disaster this is, and idle hands will make this tragedy worse. We must act now,” Jean wrote in his non profit organization website, yelehaiti.com

Jean took a flight headed to the Dominican Republic on Jan. 13, which he tweeted, “My flight leaves for D.R. in one hour, can’t fly into Haiti direct as you know pray for the people of Haiti and me, please.” Since Tuesday’s earthquake, Yele Haiti has raised over $1 million for the victims in Haiti.

Celebrities such as, Tiger Woods, Fabolous, Diddy, Ben Stiller, John Legend, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher and so forth are supporting Wyclef Jean’s foundation in helping to donate and raise money for Haiti earthquake relief. To make your donation in helping Haiti, visit www.yele.org.
