Wyclef Jean

In a ceremony at NYC’s S.O.B.’s a couple of days ago Wyclef Jean was named the newest goodwill ambassador of his native country Haiti by President Rene Preval. Jean received the honors from his uncle, Haiti’s U.S. ambassador, Raymond Joseph before a crowd of hundreds including Russell Simmons and DJ Whoo Kid. “Life has changed for the rapper,” he said according to The Miami Herald. “If it were not for hip-hop, I would not be standing here tonight.” After the ceremony, samples from his forthcoming Carnival Vol. II Memoirs of an Immigrant (due Dec. 4) were played. In January 2005, Jean founded the non-political organization, Yele Haiti, to provide aid and assistance to the people of Haiti and of the Haitian diaspora.

But all these distinctions haven’t changed the rapper as you can see in the video below:
