Chinese powerhouse Evergrande Guangzhou broke the country’s transfer record after signing Dario Conca to their rosters. The Argentinian accepted around $10 million to leave the Brazilian club Fluminense. Speculators say that the midfielder stands to make over $10 million a year during his three and a half year tenure with the team. It makes him the world’s third highest paid football players behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi!
Fluminese coach Abel Braga acknowledged “This offer will put him in the top ten highest-paid players in the world…He is a guy who has completely identified with the club but this is a unique opportunity.”
The switch is not surprising considering the country’s rise to global power, it’s sports teams are logically following suit.
