Last Wednesday, October 5th, Willow Smith continued her takeover of pop culture with the release of her latest single “Fireball.” On Wednesday, Will and Jada’s daughter told her Twitter followers to tune into New York radio station Hot 97, shortly after the tweet the track was premiered; Nicki Minaj became the singer’s first feature with a two minute spit session on the song.
The ten year old’s new track will likely fire up a fan base for a debut album that is almost done, according to the Roc Nation LP’s leading producer, Ronald “Jukebox” Jackson, “I did like eight, nine songs on Willow, so right now, we’re in the process of just trying to close out the album.”
Jackson announced the upcoming, untitled album would feature “influences of everything from rock to pop to hip-hop.” “Jukebox” went on to justify the time it has taken to release the record “It’s just the whole process. You got to think about it: She’s a 10-year-old girl. She’s gotta have a life; she’s gotta be a kid.”
In her third single, Willow boasts “I’m the fireball of the party,” but only time will tell whether the release will go platinum like her musical debut “Whip My Hair” or follow in the footsteps of her not as successful, second single “21st Century Girl.”
