US Charts Review

Riding the same wave as previous weeks, the charts hasn’t changed much. Jack Johnson takes the #1 spot with his new debut selling well over 250,000, and as usual, urban acts catch the next best sales and trickle after. Last week we were missing some notable names, but I’m pleased to see results of a promotional tour actually work. The charts welcome back two eccentric ladies. Can you guess who? To the charts we go.

Following behind the big Hawaiian charter is no other than Justin Bieber in #2 with “My World 2.0” selling 53,544. Usher remains in the #5 spot with 34,565 for “Raymond v. Raymond” and Lady Gaga does the same at #6 with 32,924 sold for “Fame.” Ke$ha moves up six spots and makes the cut-off at #10 for “Animal,” which sold 20,471. B.o.B. also moved up four spots into #13, selling 19,310 for “Adventures of Bobby Ray.”

Bieber appears again at #17 with 17,957 sold for his EP “My World.” Black Eyed Peas takes #19 for “The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies),” selling 17,556. Nas & Damian Marley takes a dip and fall ten spots into #20 this week, selling 16,967 for their collaborative effort, “Distant Relatives.” Alicia Keys’ “Element of Freedom” sits at #26 with 12,635 sold. Ludacris sells 11,736 for “Battle of the Sexes,” which landed at #29 this week.

Our returnee this week is no another than analog girl Erykah Badu with “New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh). Missing from the charts for a couple of weeks, Badu now returns at #37 with 9,119 sold. Lil Wayne, who was missing week before last, remains on the charts and moves up from #49 to this week’s #43, selling 8,266 for “Rebirth.” Our next returnee is Badu’s tour sidekick Janelle Monae with “The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III), selling 8,025. Rihanna, who barely made it last week at #50, now takes #47 for “Rated R,” which sold 7,946. Lastly, Sade still marches with “Solider of Love” in at #49, selling a total of 7,890 for the week.

Check back next week to see if Christina Aguilera, Lil Jon and Plies make the charts with their new albums! Hopefully if they do, they’ll knock the Hawaiian singer out his spot!
