US Charts Review

When it comes to the charts this week, the classic Nas “Illmatic” track comes to mind and makes me sing: “Whose world is this?” But instead of answering “The world is yours,” I have to reply… “The world is Biebers’.” Wonder why? Let’s move to the charts.

Taking over the charts this week is Justin Bieber in at #1 once again with “My World 2.0,” selling 106,011. Sweeping mentor Usher out his debuting top position, Usher now takes #2 for “Raymond v. Raymond” with 86,863 sold. Monica stays in the #6 spot with 37,205 sold for “Still Standing.” Lady Gaga moves up from the previous #9 position into #7 for “The Fame,” which sold 31,052. Erykah Badu falls five spots into #9 with 25,497 for “New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh).” Ludacris’ “Battle of the Sexes” comes in at #10 with 24,891 sold.

Bieber’s EP “My World” falls from #8 to #11 this week with 24,138. Black Eyed Peas fall as well into #13 with 23,686 sold for “E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies).” In at #14, Ke$ha moves up four spots for “Animal” with 23,275 sold. Lady Gaga’s EP “The Fame Monster” lands at #18 with 18,797. Moving up five spots, Rihanna’s “Rated R” comes in at #20 with 17,916 sold.

Sade took a hard fall this week. Previously at #14, Sade now clocks in at #21 with 17,687 for “Solider of Love.” Lil Wayne sold 14,008 into #25 for “Rebirth” and Gorillaz sold 11,897 into #30 for “Plastic Beach.” Trey Songz’s “Ready” lands at #31 with 11,802 sold. Alicia Keys sits at #33 for “The Element of Freedom” with 11,310 sold.
Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon move out their debuting #12 spot into this week’s #36, with 10,573 for “Wu Massacre.” Jason Derülo makes a major comeback this week. Moving out of his previous #50 position, Derülo’s self titled album “Jason Derülo” sits at #39 with 10,067 sold. Young Money sold 9,663 into #41 for “We are Young Money” and Jaheim closes out the charts this week at #46 and 8,552 sold for “Another Round.”

Since Bieber took over the charts this week, will he leave enough room for Usher to make a comeback? Check back next week to see who takes over.
