This week is, once again, terribly slow for urban sales… Seems like everybody is waiting for the holiday season to drop!
After a decent first week, Mario totally collapses and slides 37 spots to #46. “D.N.A.” only pushed 11,000 copies for its second week of availability, for a total of 43,000 albums… Not exactly a successful comeback!
As usual, Jay-Z dominates urban sales and remains in the Top 5 at #4, with an impressive 42,000 records sold. After seven weeks in stores, “Blueprint III” has pushed 1,154,000 albums.
The Black Eyed Peas also maintain their position in the Top 5 at #5 with 35,000 units pushed this week, thanks to the success of their new single “Meet Me Halfway.” The album “E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies)” has sold 1,270,000 albums.
Things keep getting worse for Mariah Carey… Mimi drops another seven spots to #17 with 20,000 units. After four weeks on the shelves, “Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel” has only moved 277,000 copies, which is very low as compared to Mariah’s past glory…
Whitney Houston’s momentum is also slowing down. “I Look To You” sold 19,000 records for its ninth week of availability, ending at #21. Total sales for this comeback effort reach 775,000 copies.
The Canadian sensation Drake manages to gain seven spots to #23 with a solid 18,000 copies sold of the mixtape “So Far Gone.” After six weeks in stores and despite months of availability online, the mixtape has sold 196,000 units.
Another artist finding his way up the charts is Trey Songz! The young R&B singer moves up six spots to #35, selling this week 13,000 copies “Ready.” Trey’s third effort totalizes 284,000 copies sold.
Maxwell seems firmly decided to stay in the Top 50 for a long time! The soulful singer only loses 1 spot to end his sixteenth week on the charts at #45. So far, the excellent “BLACKSummer’snight” has pushed an impressive 837,000 units.
Noticeable absence this week: Kid Cudi, who did not make it into to the Top 50… Let’s hope that “Man On The Moon” will be back on the charts thanks to a new single release sometime soon! As for Sean Kingston… Oh well.
