For its 8th anniversary, TRACE Urban organized an online contest. You could all vote for your favorite music videos. Now the results are in!
It probably comes as no surprise that Chris Brown is the big winner as the Team Breezy is really active online. “Yeah 3X” leads the way with 17.118 votes. Chris Brown stars 4 times in the top 10. With a total of 26.358 votes, Mr Brown is definitely the star of stars.
Besides Chris Brown, there are two other American R&B artists that got a lot of votes. Cassie for instance hasn’t brought out any new music for a while, but her oldies “Me and U” and “Long Way To Go” both reached the top ten. With a total of 8989 votes, you could say that fans are expecting her to come up with new material. Princess of R&B Aaliyah has left us for a while now, but her fans haven’t forgotten about her. Her single “More Than A Woman” earned her 6th place.
TRACE Urban is an international urban channel. In the top ten you find proof of that as French and Latin artists alike have found their way to the top flight. Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie” got the Latina up to 4th place. French rap group 113 is the biggest winner after Chris Brown. Rohff and Zaho’s hit “Fais Doucement,” got to 5th place. The two artists represent the French, Comorian and Algerian community. Francophone artists are definitely present on the urban scene.
