JOB DESCRIPTION: COPYWRITER INTERN TRACE Southern Africa
We’re looking for a passionate and creative copywriter intern to join our Johannesburg team. You’ll be working alongside a team of talented videographers, multimedia designers, community managers, and marketers – to write all the copy needed for campaigns and creatives.
Main assignment / Position purpose
To interpret briefs, conceptualise and create written communication content for all the production and marketing assets and projects.
Job activities
- Successfully translates briefs into written copy
- Delivers timeously on all briefs
- Liaises with the relevant internal divisions and/or departments, i.e. Production, Marketing, and Sales
- Works closely with Production, Programming, Marketing, and Sales to ensure relevance, alignment and correct communication
- Ensures the correct format delivery and placement of their creative work as well as quality control
- Writing accurate and engaging copy
- Interpreting briefs, conceptualising and script creation for promos and video content
- Proofreading of all copy
- High quality work
- Keeps track of any new amendments to the Brand Bible and channel guide
- Requests all required elements needed for the job
- Keeps regular track of TRACE’s on-air and OTT viewership stats and subscriptions
- Keeps track of stats and following on the online sites and social media platforms
- Keeps track of the competitive market share and new industry trends
- Create content for the trace website (articles, interviews etc..)
Skills required
- Excellent punctuation, grammar and spelling
- Discipline to write around already provided topics
- Organised and capable of managing multiple matters concurrently
- Good analytical skills
- Creative, innovative and willing to contribute ideas
- Attention to detail and efficiency
- Collaborate well in a team while still being able to handle projects independently
- Presentable and articulate
- Any qualifications beneficial
- Own transport mandatory

Experience
0 – 1 year experience
Training/degree level
- Matric
- Tertiary qualification in Journalism, English or copywriting
