R&B singer Toni Braxton is back in the spotlight again! The legendary superstar, who recently joined the Atlantic Records group, will be releasing her anticipated comeback album “Pulse” on February 2, 2010.
The twelve track album features a guest appearance from labelmate Trey Songz on the lead single, “Yesterday.” The song, which was produced by DJ Frank E., was released on Braxton’s official webstie on September 29, 2009. “Pulse” also includes production by Steve Mac, Lucas Secon, Harvey Mason & Oak, Troy Taylor, amongst others…
In 1993, the sultry singer released her self-titled debut album, “Toni Braxton.” Produced by Babyface, L.A Reid and Daryl Simmons, the album’s first single, “Another Sad Love Song,” peaked at number seven and number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B Singles charts respectively. It also produced the hit singles “Breathe Again,” “You Mean the World to Me,” “Seven Whole Days,” and “How Many Ways.”
The album became such a success that Braxton won three Grammy awards for Best New Artist, two consecutive awards for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance in 1994 and tacked on another win for “Breathe Again” in 1995.
During her career Braxton released five albums but her road to success was somewhat overshadowed by a whirlwind of bad news. Her Las Vegas show was canceled due to illness, she filed for bankruptcy, had to deal with lawsuits, poor records sales and her child’s autism.
So with “Pulse,” let’s hope that the R&B icon who has sold over 40 million records worldwide, earned six Grammy awards and who has a contralto vocal range will be able to bring back her momentum and regain her status of diva that she gained with her first two albums, “Toni Braxton” and “Secrets.”
