After eleven weeks at the top spot on the U.S. pop charts with their hit single “Boom Boom Pow,” the Peas which consist of Fergie, apl.de.ap, will.i.am, and Taboo find themselves topping the charts again with their second single “I Gotta Feeling.” The single took the lead on the Hot Digital Songs chart by moving 249,000 copies in its first week of release. So far the “Where is the Love” band new album, “The E.N.D.” (Energy Never Dies), has sold over sold 304,000 copies making it their best sales week since 2005’s “Monkey Business” moved 291,000 copies in its first week.
The Peas began their career around the L.A. area by showcasing their mike skills and dazzling footwork and in 1998 their debut, “Behind the Front,” was released to critical acclaim. It featured guest appearances from Jurassic 5, De La Soul, and Macy Gray. Their second effort “Bridging the Gap” was released in 2000.
But it was “Elephunk” the group third album with a perfect collection of disco stomp and hip-hop funk released in 2003 featuring Fergie Ferguson as the leas singer which gave the group worldwide success. It featured “Where is the Love?,” a single with Justin Timberlake which became the group first major hit followed by “Shut Up” and “Hey Mama.” Two years later, they returned with “Monkey Business,” which elevated them into the stratosphere of music royalty with the hit single “My Humps.” In 2005, they received a Grammy for “Let’s Get It Started” for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.
The group’s fifth studio album, “The E.N.D.” is in stores now.
