The Australian champion assaulted

Quadruple world champion of surfing, Australia’s Stephanie Gilmore, 22, suffered a broken wrist and various head injuries after a night assault with an iron bar. Police said a 22 year old woman was attacked Monday night on returning to her apartment in the town of Tweed Heads, explaining that the attacker “struck his victim twice with a bar before escaping by bike “and the victim” suffering cuts on the back of the skull and a broken wrist. “The victim’s father, Jeff Gilmore, assured in a local television station that her daughter was shaken but that she “will recover”. Police said the assailant was recognized by friends and neighbors who kept him until the arrival of law enforcement. He will appear in court next month.
