Tha Carter III

2008 was THE year for rapper Lil Wayne. He sold 2.88 million copies of his latest album, “Tha Carter III”, released last June, according to Billboard’s year-end chart-wrap. Those numbers are making it the best-selling album of 2008 in USA. Later down the line at #8 it’s T.I.’s “Paper Trail” with 1.52 million, and Beyonce’s “I Am … Sasha Fierce” at #10 with 1.46 million. Lil Wayne, T.I and Beyoncé’s albums are flirting at the top of the charts with huge names of Rock music, like AC/DC or Coldplay. And the music crisis is at our doors because these results mark the first time since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991 that the top-selling album of the year sold fewer than 3 million copies.
