The T-Wayne album is slowly but surely in the works. “We got 12 songs right now,” T-Pain recently admitted regarding the collaborative effort by himself and rapper Lil’ Wayne. “We going slow; there’s no rush. It can come out whenever. We’re gonna keep it pushing, however. It’s gonna be pushed,” T-Pain said.
It only makes sense that both artists, who have been featured on countless hip-hop tracks in recent years, produce an album featuring none other than … each other. As T-Pain explained, “It’s two artists that done collaborated with every artist in the industry except each other. Being that we getting together, this T-Wayne movement is getting crazy.”
T-Pain appeared on Lil’ Wayne’s I AM MUSIC tour in late 2008. On stage, the two performed a short track together, “He Rap, He Sang,” which is rumored to be an intro track to the album.
According to T-Pain, touring and recording schedules have hindered the artists’ ability to produce the T-Wayne album at a quicker pace. Lil’ Wayne has been tweaking his anticipated rock album “Rebirth,” which recently had its release date pushed back.
Since 2006, Lil’ Wayne has also been tied to “I Can’t Feel My Face,” another collaboration album with New York rapper Juelz Santana that has yet to be released. If this is any indication of a timeline for the T-Wayne project, fans should not expect an official release any time soon. In the meantime, he raps, he sings, we wait.
