Just when you thought another rapper wouldn’t risk going back to the jailhouse, ATL rapper T.I. and his wife Tiny were arrested in Los Angeles Wednesday night for alleged possession of a controlled substance.
Now according to the arrest report from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the newlywed couple was stopped during a traffic stop on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood at approximately 10:30 p.m. Due to a “strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle,” a narcotics investigation followed and lead to both Clifford “T.I.” Harris Jr. and Tameka “Tiny” Cottle “found to be in possession of a controlled substance.” Details are kind of shady. During press time, no information was given on which drug the possession charge covered, but TMZ reported the couple to be traveling in a Maybach during the time of the arrest.
The couple was booked at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Department with felony possession of a controlled substance charges. Bail of 10,000 was set for both T.I. and Tiny individually. Deputy Jeff Gordon confirmed Thursday morning that the couple posted bail around 4 a.m. PT and are due back in court on the charges September 3.
Trouble must be the last thing desired for Tip.
With new film “Takers” debuting at #1 last weekend, T.I. is still on federal probation following a seven-month prison term completed in March on weapon charges. T.I.’s comeback single “Got Your Back” featuring Keri Hilson from his upcoming album titled “King Uncaged” has been a success, currently #10 on Billboard’s Top Hip-Hop and R&B chart. During press time, Gordon said considering T.I. was allowed to post bail on the drug charge, it did not appear that the rapper’s probation from the federal charge would be impacted by Wednesday night’s arrest.
