T.I

Self-proclaimed king of the south T.I. has released his first video since entering jail. “Remember Me,” featuring Mary J. Blige, makes it clear that even though the introspective rapper is down on his luck, he will overcome.

The video begins with a shackled T.I. being led to a jail cell, while delivering instruction on how to “measure a man.” “When his world starts to fall, see how tall he stands,” the Grammy winner advises. A youthful looking Blige pleads “Don’t forget to remember me,” before the beat drops.

The video was strategically shot before T.I. began serving a 366-day sentence at Federal Correction Institution in Forrest City, Arkansas. The conviction, which stems from a 2007 bust in which prosecutors said T.I. tried to buy unregistered machine guns from undercover police, is T.I. second jail sentence since making it big.

“Remember Me” is a champion’s anthem. Despite his current adversity T.I. is certain of one thing and wants all to know it: “It’s on when I get back, please don’t forget that.” The song is featured on August’s scheduled rerelease of the “Paper Trail” album.
