Summer Jam 2009

2 TRACE viewers from South Africa won a trip to New York City, to attend the 2009 HOT 97 Summer Jam concert. And the show was in full mood Sunday night, June 8, at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Much to the delight of fans a pre-show that featured local acts, Asher Roth and DJ Webstar kept the crowd urging for more.

With a line-up that included a number of today’s best Hip-Hop artists who graced the stage to perform various songs off past and up-coming albums (The Dream, Young Jeezy, Jadakiss, Elephant Man, Juelz Santana and Jim Jones) the fans were kept on their breath till the last minute.

A number of other artists who appeared during the show and gave the crowd pleasing performances included T-Pain, Lil Kim, Maino, Young Jeezy who brought out Drake and with whom he performed Drake’s hit single “Best I Ever Had”, Method Man, and Jay Z who unveiled his new single “The Death Of Autotune.”

Busta Rhymes and Jeremih appeared with Jadakiss, and DJ Khaled performed with Ace Hood.

Reggae acts Serani, Mavado and Elephant Man performed their international smash gems, which, received some of the best responses of the entire night. Serani’s “No Games,” alongside Mavado’s “So Special” kept the crowd urging for more from the budding reggae stars way after their sets concluded.

R&B lovers were smothered by Pleasure P who laid down vintage material from his Pretty Ricky days as well as his new reflective cuts, “I Did You Wrong” and his current single, “Boyfriend #2.” The Queen of R&B, Mary J. Blige, belted out songs from a slew of breakout project “Growing Pains” and “What’s The 411” to name a few.

Jim Jones and Juelz Santana closed out the show that featured a superhero inspired theme.
