Earlier this year South Africa sent their search and rescue team to help out in finding people trapped under collapsed buildings in Haiti. Realizing that more help is needed, the South African Broadcasting Corporation decided to host a telethon on January, Thursday 28th 2010.
South African celebrities were able to collect over R760,000 (more than $100,000) which will be used to help rebuild Haiti.
On January 30th a Haiti SOS-Africa Stand Up event was also held in order to raise funds and collect clothing and tinned food for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
