Stepping back into the spotlight after a two year hiatus, Soulja Boy, drops the “Tell Em” to introduce his fans to his new album the “DeAndre Way“ set to be release on November 30th, the same date as his new novel “Teenage Millionaire.” The project, his third major label and fourth overall studio album will be according to the young star, the “biggest album of his career.”
“Pretty Boy Swag” the lead single was released on June 8, reaching number thirty-four on the Billboard Hot 100, and number six on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and number five on the Billboard Rap Songs chart, selling 518,000 copies without label input. “Blowing Me Kisses” the second single from the album was released on August 31 and “Speakers Going Hammer” the third single was released on October 19.
Of his new project the fresh ink rapper from Atlanta who spots a cross tattooed under his eye, a dollar sign printed on the side of his neck and the name, “Dre” adorning his back, enlisted the musical genius of his mentor Kanye West on the track “Mean Mug” to give his fans a new side of his creativity. “Now I am in a place where I’m in the studio with Kanye West… These situations are going to make me make different types of music,” he said on a recent Billboard interview.
With “Way” the MC crafted a new sound and promotional strategy that will make fans wonder if the tutelage of West was just what Soulaja Boy needed to reboot his style into a more develop “street edge.” Not only “Way” offers more hard charging beats than what the rapper had ever done before but the album also includes the radio friendly track, “Blowing Kisses” that will appeal to his younger fans. The track, “30 Thousand 100 million,” produced by West offers a variety of synch effects as well as collaborations by Trey Songz, Keri Hilson and Lil B to name a few. But when it comes to his new book, “Teenage Millionaire,” the rapper follows on the footsteps of his financial counsel hip-hop heavyweights 50 Cent to make the right transition from publishing to film with a documentary about his childhood that will be release next year.
In the meantime, the social media king will keep on pushing himself by focusing on his up coming tour that will hit venues early 2011.
