Shyne

Rapper Shyne should be deported soon to his native Belize. After serving a nine year stint in jail for the 1999 club incident where partying with Sean “Diddy” Combs and then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez escalated into gunfire, Shyne was expected to make a valiant return to rap.

Speculation ran wild as to which label would snatch up the former Bad Boy upon his release. It seems, however, that instead of returning to the studio, the Brooklyn-raised rapper will be returning to his birth country of Belize.

New York’s Hot 97 disclosed the info after radio personality Angie Martinez spoke with 30-year-old Shyne in an off-air conversation. The details of the convo were later discussed on air and, supposedly at Shyne’s request, updated on a blog: “Shyne will be released from Immigration custody but will then be deported to Belize soon… [He’s] still urging fans to reach out to Governor Patterson’s office to petition for Shyne’s pardon… but deportation is imminent if that pardon doesn’t come.”

His father, Belize Prime Minister Dean Barrow, has written a letter to the Governor of New York asking for a pardon that would allow him to resume normal residence in the United States where he grew up along with his mother and grandmother.
Shyne has been detained by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement since his October 6th release from prison.
