Shawna

Female rapper Shawna is the latest artist to sign with T-Pain’s Nappy Boy Entertainment. The announcement was made by T-Pain himself during the Illinois homecoming event last weekend.

The Chicago native has parted ways with Disturbing Tha Peace, Ludacris’ label, on which she released two albums, “Worth Tha Weight” and “Block Music.” Despite this move, the joint album she has been working on with Luda, “Battle of the Sexes,” is still on deck for an upcoming release.

Early reports last month suggested both Pain and Shawna were working on a deal.
The Autotune King had leaked a track featuring Shawna from his forthcoming album “Revolver.” In the song, called “Dope,” Shawna starts her verse by announcing her move to Nappy Boy Ent.: “It ain’t no secret that lyrically I’m the reason Nappy Boy had to put me on their team.”

Numerous artists have suffered from being overshadowed by the label’s boss, like it’s the case on G-Unit or Bad Boy… So, will this change of label reactivate Shawna’s long-overlooked career, or is it a bad move?
