Rory McIlroy is the new golf’s prodigy

By winning the U.S. Open at 22, Rory McIlroy became the youngest player to win a Grand Slam tournament. The record holder until now was a certain Tiger Woods.

The Northern Irish golfer born in Holywood (Ireland) also beat the tournament record with 16-under-par, on the Bethesda green in Maryland. The former record was set by Tiger and Jack Nicklaus.

It’s actually a joint victory for the Mcllory clan. Indeed, the young golfer’s father started training him when he was just 18 months old. This family affair seems set to continue to dominate the world of golf for years to come.
