From singing covers in bars to writing and recording his own music, Cape Town-born singer/songwriter Kila G has recently teamed up with Abenathi in order to showcase South African R&B. With the release of his sophomore EP “Elegant King”, Kila G has given his listeners a window into what to expect by releasing a single to his upcoming EP titled “This Time”. The song details the story of lovers who have reached a point in their relationship where they don’t speak as much as they used to, this, in turn, has created distance between them.
With “This Time” being the first single from Kila G’s upcoming EP “Elegant King” the sonics of the single deliver an almost angelic experience with hums and melodies layered over heartfelt lyrics transporting you into the heart of a relationship without communication. The Ballard styled delivery and instrumentation is reminiscent of early Boys 2 Men with its captivating swells but with a modern twist. The song features Abenathi who sang with Kila G in their high school choir and has recently begun writing and recording his own music.
