Its official Queen Latifah is officially out of the closet and without even talking about it. The Queen was photographed over the weekend embracing her long time partner and personal trainer Jeanette Jenkins while vacationing in France to celebrate the marriage of her friend Alicia Keys and her hubby Swizz Beatz.
For years rumors have swirled about Queen Latifah’s sexuality and for her part, the Queen never fully addressed them to the media, preferring to be very tight-lipped on the subject by saying that she wanted to keep her personal life private. For some of her fans who might be too young to remember Latifah played the character of “Cleo” a lesbian bank robber in the 1996 movie “Set It Off.”
So considering the Queen’s tendency to keep her life private, some will wonder if Latifah is not revisiting her 14-year-old character and maybe having the last laugh about it but regardless of the pictures, the star who has conquered the music scene and of course the music industry is a spokesperson for CoverGirl and Curvation ladies underwear.
So the questions remain, will her acting, music career and endorsement deals suffer as the result of her coming out the closet? And what about her fans will they support her or just run away? Only time will tell. But no matter what happened Latifah’s musical legacy is already set and she will always be remembered as a one of the first groundbreaking female rappers.
While some tongues are wondering about Latifah’s sexuality, the entertainer has some projects to fulfill and in a few weeks she will be heading to Chicago to begin filming her next movie, “The Dilemma,” a film about a man who discovers that his best friend‘s wife is having an affair. The movie is slated to be release in early 2011.
