Qatar whistleblower apologizes over accusations

The infamous Qatar whistleblower recently apologized to Fifa and the Qatar Bid, retracting her allegations of corruption, saying the story was a ‘fabrication’. The accusations of misconduct concerned a $1.5 million bribe to Fifa’s Africa executives Issa Hayatou, Jacques Anouma, and Amos Adamu on behalf of the Qatar 2022 world cup bid.

Phaedra Almajid was employed by the committee for less than a year as an international media specialist. After being fired for being unable to handle the position, she decided to seek revenge on her former colleagues.

The informer also stated “I believe that the media did in fact know that I was lying and that certain facts, up to now, have been omitted, downplayed, glossed over and/or mis-characterized in an effort to maximize institutional embarrassment” to both Fifa and Qatar.

The entire letter of apology was published early July at http://www.qatarwhistleblower.com/
