Presenting: Jamali

South African trio Jamali is the Destiny’s Child of their homeland. The trio are best known for their sensational ballads and their uniquely South African sound that has taken them straight to the top of both radio and sales charts. Jamali’s self-titled debut album rocked the South African music industry when it came out in 2004. It hit platinum sales and set Jamali on the road to success. The band was formed on the TV show Coca-Cola Popstars. Members include Jacqui Carpede, Mariechan Luiters and Liesl Penniken. Although Jamali didn’t actually win the competition, they outsold the winning band in terms of popularity and TV appearances. Their three time’s SAMA (South African Music Awards) nominated second album, “Yours Fatally” was a huge hit with their fans. They won the coveted SAMA for Best South African Pop Act 2009 for their 3rd album, “3rd Base.” Three albums in and Jamali is rapidly cementing its place as a world-class pop act.
