Phelps to retire after London Games

Michael Phelps is getting ready to retire. In « 60 minutes » on CBS news, the swimmer announced that he would be retiring after the Olympic Games. He’s lost interest in early morning practices, pain, and competition.

At nearly 27, Michael Phelps has won every possible title. He has 14 Olympic titles and is gearing up to improve his tally in London. Phelps wants a change of scene. His career has taken him around the world, he’s travelled to the most incredible cities, but never had the chance to truly enjoy them. He’s spent his time in hotels and pools all day, every day.

Nowadays, he wants to enjoy life. He shouldn’t have too much trouble thanks to the estimated 40 million dollars he’s made since turning pro in 2000.
