This is a very sad news that One Direction‘s fans got to hear yesterday. The group has lost one of its member… An announcement made official last night on the social networks of the group: “After five incredible years, Zayn Malik has decided to leave One Direction!”
This Anglo-Irish group of five young singers was revealed in the 7th season of the British version of X-Factor in 2010. One Direction went on releasing globally successful albums, Up All Night in 2011, Take Me Home in 2012, Midnight Memories in 2013 and Four in 2014 and also did Worldwide tours.
But despite the enormous success of the group, the 22 years old singer, victim of stress, believes that is time for him to take off: “after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band,” he said. “I’d like to apologize to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”
If millions of fans around the globe are (very) upset after this announcement, they can console themselves in the up and coming months. Indeed, Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis will continue their world tour and record their next album due out this year.
As for Zayn, his career could take a new direction. Indeed, the young singer can count on 50 Cent who recently claimed he would love to be his mentor…
