Here are the stories that catch our attention this week… So, true or not? Time will tell..
Beyoncé pregnant? Rumors started to spread when Jay-Z canceled a few shows to spend more time with Bey… Plus Hova made it clear in an interview with Gotham magazine a few weeks ago that he was ready to have kids and was waiting on his lady… Well, this could be the time!
Wale’s debut album conspiracy: “Attention Deficit” is the latest Interscope’s album to suffer from distribution issues. The DC rapper’s record was released yesterday, but good luck finding it on store shelves. Despite heavy promotion it seems that Interscope Records shipped an insufficient supply of physical copies to retail outlets. Wale learned of the shortage after receiving tweets from fans that couldn’t get their copy…
Soulja Boy found his Soulja Girl! And it’s no little angel… The twitter-addict teen rapper once again used the popular network to immerge fans into his private life. This time, DeAndre was vacationing in Jamaica and he shared a few pictures of him and female MC Trina on a jet ski together. Later on during an interview on the Eric B show, Soulja Boy did not deny being on a relationship with the sexy Trina…
Rappers going to jail, the epidemic: After T.I., Lil Boosie, Lil Wayne, another rapper just got sentenced to jail time: Atlanta’s sensation Gucci Mane will be going to jail… again. The MC had been enjoying a huge buzz since his last prison release and was currently promoting his album, led by the single “Spotlight” featuring Usher. Bad, bad timing for Gucci.
50 Cent vs Jay-Z: To build up the buzz surrounding his upcoming album BISD, 50 Cent keeps using his favorite recipe: beefing! This time, Fifty calls out none other than Jay-Z. After officially ending Fat Joe’s career earlier this year, the G-Unit capo is now taking shots at Jay, whom he accused of “losing his street edge” and “being changed by money.” The Queen’s rapper last move? Signing former Roc-A-Fella bully Beanie Sigel and using his bitterness towards Jay-Z to serve his own purpose… Machiavelic, as usual.
Kanye West, back to the studio: Despite the rumors of a spiritual retreat to India, or worst notice of his death, Yeezy is alive and reportedly back to doing what he does best… No, not dissing, music! Recent reports from close associates DJ A-Trak and Mr. Hudson have revealed that Kanye is working out some ideas for his next album. It should be back to basics for this new project, which should be an old-school record, made with just a drum machine, a ghetto blaster and a microphone.
Lil Wayne is working hard: Rebirth will finally drop on December 15th! Lil Wayne’s long awaited rock album should hit stores soon, possible under the form of a double disc with Young Moneys’ debut album. In addition to protégé Drake, “Rebirth” is slated to include guest spots from the Fall Out Boy, Lenny Kravitz and Travis Baker.
Oh WORD?! will be on line every Friday…
