The Roots, Lil Mama, Estelle, Lyfe Jennings and pop icon Madonna released their albums today (April 29).
London songstress and the first signee of John Legend’s new label, Homeschool/Atlantic Records, Estelle is hoping to make waves in the US just as she has in the UK.
Estelle’s album, “Shine,” features production by Swizz Beatz, Wyclef Jean and Mark Ronson and an appearance by Kanye West and John Legend.
New York rapper and teen sensation Lil Mama is releasing her debut album, “VYP – Voice of the Young People.” Her latest hit, “Shawty Get Loose” is a follow-up to her No. 10 Hot 100 smash single “Lip Gloss.” The new track features R&B heartthrob Chris Brown and T-Pain.
Philadelphia hip-hop band The Roots is releasing their latest album, “Rising Down.” The album features more guest appearances than any of their other LPs, which makes sense as this album seems to be inclusive, eclectic, and heavily influenced by multiple cultures, genres, and musicians.
Lyfe Jennings returns to the music scene with the follow up to his platinum debut album Lyfe 268-192.
On the topic of his latest release, “Lyfe Change” the R&B singer said, “In the past I didn’t work with different producers, I produced and wrote most of my albums by myself. But on this project I actually worked with different producers and a few writers.” Lyfe Change features Snoop Dogg, Lil’ Wayne and Wyclef Jean, among others.
Pop icon Madonna’s comeback disc “Hard Candy” also hit stores today. Madonna reached out to star hip-hop producers Timbaland, Kanye West and Pharrell for help on the disc.
