NBA’s Confucius considers balling cease

Yao Ming may retire, according to an anonymous AP news source. The eight season all-star’s confidant claims that the announcement will come during a Shanghai conference on the 20th. The seven foot six inch giant has been fraught with foot and leg injuries for a number of years and has decided against further seasons and subsequent surgery.

The Houston Rocket’s center played a pivotal role in bringing basketball to China, aided his country in the Olympics and now owns a team there. The icon worth over $1 billion, according to his agents, was also known for his philanthropy and donated $2 million to rebuild schools after a 2008 Sichuan earthquake.

John Huizinga, Ming’s agent, also lamented the loss “I think he would like to run this part of his life the way he’d like to run it. I understand other people don’t feel that way. I don’t like it, but I’m not going to be able to change it.”
