NAS Will Release

In a recent interview with Foxxhole radio, Nas announced the official release date of his controversial new album as April 22nd.

Nas made headlines last year (07) when he announced plans for the title of his new album – “NIGGER”, insisting the word is symbolic of the discrimination faced by all ethnicities, not just those of African origin.

Explaining his album, Nas said: “We’ve all at some point felt discriminated on, whether its in Dominican Republic, whether its in China, whether its in Iraq with soldiers getting their heads blown off for reasons we don’t know why. The meaning of the word is supposed to be ignorant.

So no longer are Black people still niggers, it’s also me and you. I want people to think about what I’m thinking about today.”

Recently, Nas and his wife Kelis caused a few heads to turn on the Grammy red carpet when folks caught a glimpse of their t-shirts emblazoned with the word, “nigger.”

Though Nas seems confident that his controversial title will fly, L.A. Reid (Def Jam Chairman) is not so sure. When asked if the new Nas album will be released with the n-word title, Reid replied with, “We’ll have to see.”

“Expect Nas to educate us without preaching to us,” Reid says. “Expect him to give a point of view that maybe the world hasn’t thought about. Expect him to really enlighten us.”
