Maxwell

Maxwell is back. After an eight-year hiatus from the music industry, the soulful singer is returning to the scene with his fourth studio album, “BLACKsummers’night.” The album, released on July 7th 2009, is part of a three disc trilogy. “blackSUMMERS’night” and “blacksummers’NIGHT” will complete the set with releases in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

On the album’s first single, “Pretty Wings,” Maxwell manages to both croon and flex his falsetto with precision, reminding fans and critics why his soothing voice made their knees buckle years ago. Since its release, the song has steadily climbed Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles and Hot 100 charts.

Maxwell’s last record, 2001’s “Now,” reached number one. That platinum album solidified the Brooklyn native as a major force on the neo-soul circuit. This time around, fans may be hoping that Maxwell picks up where he left off. So far, as evidenced by “Pretty Wings,” it seems like he hasn’t missed a beat.
