When it comes to style, Mary J. Blige is an icon. It is not surprising that the singer is now working on her own line of shades.
Mary J. Blige is collaborating with her label (Interscope Records-Geffen-A&M) chairman Jimmy Iovine and eyewear company Orange 21 to develop a line of sunglasses called “Melodies.” The line will feature four styles with 20 different color options with each style representing a specific facet of Mary J. Blige’s life.
“To reach out beyond music, an artist has to become involved with something they’re already associated with and truly feel passionate about and not just stick their name on someone else’s product. As her fans know, Mary loves fashion and she especially loves sunglasses, making Melodies by MJB a natural fit for her,” said Jimmy Iovine.
Yes indeed, if music is Mary J. Bilge’s first love, the singer is also a fashionista that is taking the fashion world by storm. With her collection of t-shirts underneath her belt and the recent release of her first signature scent earlier this year, the singer is making another move to establish the Mary J. Blige brand.
“Melodies” by MJB will be available this fall followed by a more extensive line for spring 2011.
