R&B singer Mary J. Blige is the latest celebrity to launch a fragrance. She is teaming up with “Carol’s Daughter” to release a signature perfume “My Life”
The singer decided to name her perfume “My Life” because at the time that she was recording her second album, in 1994, she was going through a difficult time. Despite the success of the album, she was not happy. She was dealing with drugs, low self-esteem issues and even considered suicide. The “My Life” album is what made her realized that she needed to turn her life around for the better. Since then, the singer has been empowering women through her FFAWN organization and music. With her first scent, she hopes that fans going through difficult time will see the relation between her second album and where she is today in order for them to change their life around. She wants it to represent every female’s everyday life.”
“Carol’s Daughter” is a line of beauty products that includes products for hair, skin, and hands, as well as fragrances. The New York City based company and Mary J. Blige have a long history together. Mary is an investor and she is currently the ambassador for the brand. So it is not surprising that she is releasing her first scent through her partnership with the company.
The scent is a combination of gardenia petals, Bartlett pear and white freesia. The heart is of tuberose, blooming jasmine, gold lily and apricot flower, and the drydown is of cashmere woods, praline, sesame and incense.
“My Life” will be launch solely on July 31, 2010.
