Mariah Carey

“Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,” Mariah Carey’s 12th studio album, will hit stores on September 29th.

The album, which has been pushed back a few times, has largely been written and produced by Carey herself along with production duo The Dream and Tricky Stewart.

The album’s first single, “Obsessed,” reached number 7 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and garnered a lot of attention due to speculation that it was a thinly veiled jab at rapper Eminem (the video even included an Eminem look-alike – Carey in drag – who stalked the songbird).

Carey’s latest single, “I Want To Know What Love Is,” a remake of Foreigner’s 1984 classic is already available on her website www.mariahcarey.com.

Mariah will also appear on Oprah on Friday, September 18th, to sit down and chat with the TV mogul and she will also perform.

Aside from the release of her album, Carey is also preparing for her return to the big screen in the Oprah-produced (surprise, surprise!) flick “Precious.” The movie, a gritty look at the unfortunate life of 16-year-old Precious (unloved, uneducated and pregnant with her father’s child), is based on the Sapphire novel Push.

Carey, who plays social worker Ms. Weiss, is a far cry from her less-than-shining “Glitter” days. This time around she has impressed critics with her role. “Precious” will hit US theaters on the 6th of November.
