On April 30 Mariah Carey gave birth to twins. Carey and her husband, comedian Nick Cannon, welcomed a little baby girl and boy into the world. As if twins aren’t special enough in themselves, they were born on the third wedding anniversary of the famous couple.
An excited Cannon tweeted: “My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life! I won’t ever be able to top this!” He added: “I’m in the happiest place I’ve ever been in my life. I never had more amazing things happening. I am humbled by God’s Favor!” Mariah addressed her fans, writing: “I wish I could personally thanks all those around the world who continue 2 send congrats + prayers for #dembabies! They’re doing great and they are the most incredible gifts we could ever have imagined.” On Tuesday, May 3, Mariah dropped the hint that both names would begin with “M.”
On May 4 the couple officially announced what “dem babies” were to be called. Their son is named Moroccan Scott Cannon and their daughter’s name is Monroe Cannon.
The names are symbolic. Moroccan is named after the top tier of Mariah’s New York City apartment as it’s the place where Nick proposed to his wife. Monroe was named after Marilyn Monroe, who has been an inspiration to Mariah her whole life.
