Mannschaft’s laid back Euro 2012 Strategy

German footballers are allowed to drink, smoke, see their families and tweet throughout Euro 2012! Mannschaft coach Joachim Low has opted for a laid back approach for his team. He won’t stop his reserve goalkeeper, Tim Wiese, from smoking for example. According to German daily Bild, players and staff will also get to drink beer or wine, in moderation of course!

Families will be welcome during off-days or after games, so the team won’t be forced to live cut-off from the world during the competition. Finally, contrary to many of their rival teams, German players will be allowed to use social networking sites as long as they don’t reveal team secrets or openly criticize people. We’ll see at the end of the tournament whether this strategy paid off.
