On Saturday, July 18, some of the biggest names in the music industry will unite to celebrate Nelson Mandela 91st birthday and his Mandela Day at Radio City Music Hall.
Alicia Keys, will.i.am, Queen Latifah, Stevie Wonder and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy are schedule to perform during the show.
The concert, a celebration of the legacy of South Africa’s former President Nelson Mandela, 46664 and the Nelson Mandela Foundation has been created to promote an official Mandela Day which would be held each year on July 18, the birth date of the South African legend in order to urge people from all over the world to embrace positive change and Mandela’s values.
Hosted by actor and comedian Whoopy Goldberg, the celebration will also feature performances by Angelique Kidjo, Wyclef Jean, Aretha Franklin and Lil Kim.
The show will conclude a week long of activities in New York City in celebration of Mandela’s lifelong struggle against apartheid and other social injustice; as well as a gala fundraising dinner that will be held at Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall.
