Lloyd Banks

G-Unit rapper Lloyd Banks is set to release his third solo album this summer. Probably. “I’m aiming towards summer, mid-summer, late summer. I won’t drop an album until I feel the buzz,” Banks said in a recent Mixtape Daily interview. Although no official album title has been confirmed, both Banks and G-Unit head honcho 50 Cent have publicly referred to the upcoming project as “H.F.M 2,” a sequel to Banks’ 2004 album “The Hunger For More.”

After building up a heavy buzz and putting out hits like “On Fire” and “I’m So Fly,” Banks seemed to fade away from the scene. However, his latest single, “Beamer, Benz or Bentley” featuring Juelz Santana, has definitely placed the raspy voiced rapper back on the music map. The radio hit has spawned countless remixes (Joell Ortiz and Jim Jones’ “Nissan, Honda, Chevy” and Maino’s “Trina, Kim or Nikki” are amongst the most popular). The song also made the top ten on Billboard’s Hot 100 and R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts.

Banks also revealed his plans to put out music on his own terms this time around. “This is my year. I’m working independent. Everything they’ve heard the past year has come out my basement, including “Beamer, Benz or Bentley,” Banks said.
