Whether you love his fashion sense or hate it, you’ve got to admit that Lil Wayne knows how to make a statement. From the tattoos that cover his entire body to the now-infamous skintight leopard print pants he rocked last summer to his Trufit brand that’s making waves in streetwear, Wayne is a headline maker.
But now the Young Money honcho is ready to step his fashion game up with a venture into the shoe business.
“I do have a shoe coming out soon but it won’t be Trukfit,” he recently told Vibe.com. “I have a shoe with a well-known company. I just don’t want to say yet because I haven’t dotted the line yet. But it’s done.”
Wayne isn’t the first rapper to come out with a signature shoe. Jay-Z, Kanye West and Nelly, among others, have all released shoes in the past. And while he didn’t release many details about his shoe, he did tell Vibe that “it’s not a Nike or Reebok.”
