Lil’ Wayne may be one of the luckiest convict in New York City right now, the rapper sentencing was put off once again for a third time this year and the MC will have to wait until Monday, March 8 to turn himself to begin his one-year prison sentence on a gun charge.
The rapper was scheduled to appear in a Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday, March 2 but according to reports an unexpected fire that occurred in the basement forced everyone to evacuate the building thus delaying the hearing once again. Neither Wayne nor his legal team was present at the time of the blaze.
Last month, Wayne, 27, pleaded guilty for the criminal possession of a weapon steaming from a 2009 October incident in which cops seized a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun from his tour bus. But to everyone surprised the judge granted the MC a sentencing delay so that he could undergo dental surgery. During that time Wayne stayed busy by completing several projects that included putting the last touches to a number of videos and songs that will be release during his lengthy absence.
On Monday, March 1, Wayne tweeted to his fans, “Yesterday i smiled, today i smirked, tomorrow i stop … Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, they’re needed. The F is for family, friends, and fans……….thank u………..your love and prayers are felt. They kant lok up my heart bekuz y’all already have it on lok. ……thank u.”
The rapper who has a long sheet of criminal offense was also arrested in 2007 on gun charges and with an unexpected night of freedom, Wayne surprised fans, on Tuesday March 2 by appearing alongside Young Jeezy and Jay-Z at the jigga man’ s show.
Let’s hope for Wayne that he is enjoying his unexpected freedom because come Monday, he will have to turn himself in immediately after his sentencing.
