Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to gun possession charges in a Manhattan courtroom on Thursday, October 22nd. The rapper will be sentenced to one year in prison as part of his plea deal.
Wayne has been fighting in court for almost two years following his July 2007 arrest in New York City. After a concert, the police pulled over the rapper’s tour bus and found a loaded .40-caliber pistol, which Wayne acknowledged to be his during the October 22nd hearing.
Lil Wayne exited the building about 20 minutes after the hearing ended, with his entourage, which included Cash Money CEOs Bryan “Baby” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams. To the many reporters present at the Manhattan’s courtroom, Weezy simply said “What’s up?”
Wayne is due back in court for sentencing in February 2010 and he is expected to serve eight to ten months, assuming good behavior.
