Lil Wayne is holding on! Though the rapper has been serving his time at Rikers Island jail in New York City for the past four months, he just wrote a grateful letter to his fans and his people. Weezy definitely seems to keep the faith and reveals much information on his daily schedule, new musical projects, but also his spiritual journey.
In the letter titled “As Time Flies,” Wayne describes a typical day: “I wake up around 11am. Have some coffee. Call my kids, and my wonderful mother. I then shower up. Read fan mail. Have lunch. Back on the phone. Read a book or write some thoughts down. Have dinner. Phone. Pushups. Then I listen to ESPN on the radio. Read the bible, then sleep.”
Lil Wayne also admits he’s been constantly writing and his letter almost turns into a teaser for what’s coming next: “Let me be the first to tell you that the lyrics that I’m writing are… well there’s no word that I can think of that properly defines them. Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair.” The artist gives shout out to his Young Money crew and congratulates his protégés with humor: “Congrats to Drake and Nicki for all their recent success. Those 2 are going to have me retiring early.”
The letter was also the occasion for Weezy to thank his fans for showing him unconditional love. The rapper obviously spent a lot of time thinking: “I never imagined that I could have such an impact on people’s lives. Because of this, I vow to be a bit more careful of what I say.” The Lil Wayne who will get out of jail is likely to be different from the one who got in.
Other good news, the rapper’s co-manager Cortez Bryant announced an album featuring all new tracks that will be titled “I’m Not a Human Being” to be released in the fall. This project will come as a warm-up for the highly anticipated “Tha Carter IV” and should be available online: “We just gonna put it out virally and maybe package it up for Christmas,” said Bryant. Jail or not, it seems like nothing can stop Lil Wayne!
